The Dethrows invade the Big D

Two weekends ago, my parents took a trip to visit us in Dallas!  Betsy and Brian had a baby shower in Grand Prairie so what a good excuse to come visit us :)

We started off the weekend shopping (of course) at Dillard's where we found the most precious floral flats (see picture below).  Friday after lunch at Hattie's in the Bishop's Art District, we piddled around some shops in the area including the cutest children's store with bows galore.

Anyhoo... Friday night we ate at Burger House by SMU which is one of Nathan's favorite Dallas restaurants (do you call this hole-in-the-wall burger joint a restaurant???).  Oh yes, and before dinner, the guys went shooting and my mom and I went shopping at North Park (yes, more shopping!).

Saturday we woke up early to get to Grand Prairie for Betsy and Brian's last baby shower!  It was hosted by Brian's sister and a bunch of other women from his hometown.

This is Brian's sister and her family--- Cade is just a precious little Southern boy.

They got lots of fun baby girl stuff-- can I just say Kinsley is going to be spoiled rotten??

All of my cousins were there at the shower so we got to see the newest addition to the family-- Brooke!  She's a little over 1 year old and is so precious.  Nathan pretty much fell in love with her!

After the shower, the Dethrows and Cashes conquered Babe's (amazing fried chicken and catfish with all-you-can-eat homecooked sides) and then we conquered Dirty Dillard's.  I just can't get enough of that store!  After piddling around Dallas some more, we went over to my aunt and uncle's house for a mini family reunion.

Susie, Derek, Sam, Brian, Steven, Brooke, Steve, Anne, Brian, Nathan
Jeff, Martha, Rita, Grandma, Katie, Peter, Betsy and me

Nathan and I loved on Lucky, their labradoodle...

We also loved on Brooke some more...

Apparently we just like to love on other people's dogs and children??

Here's my mama and me... or my identical twin and me...

The guys cooked the whole afternoon and it was delicious!  They definitely got Grandma's cooking genes.

After swimming, chatting, eating, loving on other people's children and dogs... we watched an awesome slideshow of my grandma's big trip to NYC with her boys!  Props to my dad for taking all of the great pictures and props to my mom for putting it all together!

This picture epitomizes how my mom spent her weekend in Dallas-- loving on Mr. P :)

Sunday Nathan and I took my parents to their first estate sale in Dallas (just so they could get a real feel for the Cash life) and then we had brunch at Taco Diner.  On the way home, we stopped at a cute nursery with a great little gift shop (yes, more shopping!).  That evening, we met up with more Dethrows for dinner at an authentic Chinese restaurant and wrapped up a fun weekend!

I'm so glad they got to come in town and see our new life in Dallas :)

  2. Very fun weekend. And I promise I wasn't doing the Grandma Choke Hold on Pate like it appears.
