Deals

In our little family, we hardly buy clothes and shoes (ok really anything) full price.  It's fun to search for great clothes on sale and it helps our budget... I love shopping (that's an understatement) so if I'm going to buy clothes, they might as well be on sale.  Here are some examples of great deals we have found:

This slouchy sweater from Ann Taylor Loft was $13.92- originally $59.50

This pencil skirt from Ann Taylor Loft was $10.42- originally $69.50

And the best deal of all... Nathan bought an Armani dress shirt from Saks Off 5th for about $15- originally $315

Wow, Molly and Nathan, how do y'all do it??

Well, we really only shop in the sale racks... which means you can't buy the super cute top that is in the window right away.  You have to wait until it goes on sale which will be about 3 weeks (from my experience).  The good thing about sale racks is normally if an item is on sale, it will have an additional % off.  At Ann Taylor Loft, there is an enormous Final Sale going on now which means super discounted items, nonreturnable, sometimes weird sometimes cute clothes, slightly off-season.  That is how I bought the sweater and skirt for such a good deal.  They also rotate their extra % off of sale clothes, but I can't figure out the method to their madness.  Patience is a virtue in sale shopping.  BUT, most of the time the absolutely positively adorable clothes will never go on sale (at least at Loft), so if you are dying to have that cute top in the window, I would wait until they have a 40% off everything sale and I would buy it!

Now about other stores... Dillard's--- go to the Clearance Dillard's (or Dirty Dillard's as we like to call it) in Arlington or Houston and you can get adorable Gianni Bini and Antonio Melani dresses for 70% off plus an additional 30-40% off.  Their men's selection is pretty good as well, says Nathan.  In the REAL Dillard's stores in malls, they have a new policy which is horrendous... normally they have two sections of sale items- 40% off then 70% off.  Occasionally sale items will have an additional 40% off which is a great time to buy.  BUT their new policy is they no longer have 70% off items- they have 65% off items and you have 3 days to return them if you don't want them!  3 days?  That's nuts.

That's a little on why/how we find great clothes on sale... Happy shopping!

  2. I loved this post and getting to see your cute clothes every day. You DID fail to mention that to find these good deals, you typically have to go about 3 times a week--ha! :-)

  3. Too bad you don't get frequent shopper miles to redeem on your sale items!
