Penguin Days

Nathan and I have been trying to think of creative and cheap things to do in Dallas and I have quite a list going, so here's one of them!  We went to the Dallas Zoo last week for their Penguin Days ($5 per person in January and February) because Nathan adores the zoo.  I think we could have stayed their all day... He's the kind of person who will read every. single. informational. plaque.

Here's Nathan with the penguins!  Unfortunately since we just had a snow/ice storm, it was still pretty icy in the shady parts of the zoo so about 1/3 of the park was blocked off.

But these special little warthogs weren't affected by the ice, so they were out to play!

We spent most of our time in the Reptile Building looking at all of the foreign tarantulas, pythons, and iguanas.  Nathan made me guess if I thought each animal was venomous or not and he then would tell me everything he knew about that them... Sounds like he's the perfect 3rd grade science teacher, doesn't he?

The children's zoo had a couple of birds for us to mingle with... This is Cynthia.  She took quite a liking to Nathan!

She even nestled in his pockets.

What's a visit to the zoo without feeding a herd of goats?  They were going crazy for that food!

We had a great time at the zoo and will definitely be back, hopefully we will be able to see the precious little monkeys that were blocked off because of the ice!
