Wild West to Green Elephant

A few weekends ago, I  got to meet up with lots of girlfriends!  I started out in Waco with Sarah, Emily, Laura, Caroline and Cayla-- we had a fun girls' night at Sarah's new house, dinner at La Fiesta and then dancing/concert at Wild West.  We heard the Josh Abbott Band play at Wild West and even two-stepped a little!  I didn't marry a dancer, so it was fun watching all of the intense two-steppers and learn a few moves myself.

It was so great seeing these girls-- we haven't gotten together at the same time since Sarah's wedding in June so I'm glad we were able to all take that Friday night to catch up!

Saturday morning I woke up early to head back to Waco for Cooking Club at Shay's new house.  We had a delicious breakfast (in our pajamas!) and enjoyed catching up from our last Cooking Club in November.  Shay and Adam got married in September and just moved in a house about 2 minutes away from us!

Saturday evening, a bunch of girls from church got together for a girls' night!  We started out chatting at Casey's house, then got mani/pedis, had dinner at Mi Cocina, then ended the night exchanging Secret Santa gifts at Casey's.  It was mainly the group of girls from our Newlywed Bible study, so it was a great way to finish up another great study!

Sunday night was our Newlywed Class Christmas Party at our sunday school teachers' house!  There were about 30 couples there (!!) so it was great to meet new people and catch up with old(er) friends.  We had a wonderful meal which included brisket and then sides and desserts which were brought by all the couples.  We also had a Green Elephant Exchange where we brought our funniest wedding gift-- of course, Nathan and I brought a toddler's halloween costume that we received in the mail from some family friends!  We figured out that Dillard's accidentally filled our package with a child's cat costume instead of cereal bowls like the gift giver wanted... which made for quite a funny story at the Green Elephant Exchange!  There were some other interesting gifts including typical "wedding frames", an Avatar ornament, cat napkin rings, and an Irish blanket...

That was quite a fun-- and busy-- weekend!  It's great being able to be with all of these groups of friends, especially in just one weekend!
