Haven't you always wondered who gets the party started at events? Like who really is the first person to be there? How embarrassing, right? Well Nathan and I were literally the first people at the Deep Ellum Arts Festival. Minus all the vendors/volunteers, we were the first ones there.... looking like such tourists with our big sunglasses, purses (ok just me on that one).
Despite our unfortunate first-people-there label, we had a great time at the Arts Festival! It really showcased Deep Ellum and its originality in all of the restaurants, shops, and just overall funkiness.
Deep Ellum has really interesting graffiti art and statues such as this little monster...
We bought 2 pieces of photography while we were there-- to document the first area we lived in! I think that will have to be a tradition for our future homes.
Nathan just haaad to get a picture of Johnny Cash graffiti. I think it'll have to go in his office...
Although we didn't stay long, the Deep Ellum Arts Festival got two thumbs up in our book! It's free, has lots of concerts throughout the weekend, displays cool jewelry/art/photography/clothing vendors, and is great for people watching.

Looks like fun. Neat idea to collect your home cities.
