Day 2 started with some leftover carrot cake from ghost restaurant Rebecca's as we drove to Sunspot, New Mexico to check out the National Solar Observatory. Unfortunately it was a desolate and creepy little place, so after a quick tour we drove some more and ended up taking a hike in the Lincoln National Forest.
We might have had a little "Forest Fotoshoot" :)
Then we continued our journey to Alamogordo, New Mexico...
We had lunch at a great burger place then headed over to the IMAX to watch a movie about Mount Everest and then we toured the New Mexico Museum of Space History (it was another quick tour).
After that, we drove to White Sands Missile Range (crazy!) and visited the White Sands National Monument. We picked up an ornament (of course) and a sled at the gift shop before we claimed our sand dune and sledded to our heart's content.
It was so relaxing to lay on the sand and talk about our trip, life, and of course how we wanted to sled more.
We ended up not staying for the sunset (which is supposed to be beautiful at White Sands) because we were getting tired and the weather looked bad, so we headed back to Cloudcroft and had dinner and quickly fell asleep after another wonderful day!

Love carrot cake for breakfast and forest fotoshoot. That's my girl...and he who married her!
