New Mexico Easter Getaway- Part 1

We decided to do something crazy for Easter this year and take a roadtrip to New Mexico!  We left Thursday after work and got to Cloudcroft, NM around midnight after a loooong night of driving.  We stayed at The Lodge which is a quaint hotel in Cloudcroft, which we found out after our first night there, is actually haunted!! (Nathan said he had no idea when he booked it...)

Friday we had breakfast, played horseshoes, then headed to Riudoso where we shopped and ate a quick lunch before horseback riding!  Lunch was at a delicious Mexican food restaurant with turquoise inlayed wooden tables.

The place where we rode horses was very fun... We rode for about an hour with "Squirrel" leading us around the mountains of Ruidoso. So serene and relaxing.

I really loved this little town!!  Nathan tried to go fishing a little bit, then we went to a casino where we lost about $10 as we played in the non-smoking room, and drove back to the haunted hotel for a delicious dinner at Rebecca's.  Rebecca's is aptly named after the ghost who haunts the hotel.  The pianist played us "The Way You Look Tonight" by Frank Sinatra... Our First Dance on 9.18.10.  So sweet!

  2. How much fun y'all had! I want to ride horses! I think it's sweet that you had your song played while you were there. Romantic. You're too much! Love you both!

  3. We love, love, love New Mexico. I was raised in west Texas, and my family spent MANY vacations of my childhood in NM...even honeymooned in Ruidoso.
